Colonel (Res.) Avichay Adraee is one of Israel's most recognizable public figures in the Arab world and served for nearly two decades as the Israel Defense Forces' Arabic-language spokesperson. Over the years, he became the face and voice of the IDF - and, in many ways, of Israel itself - for millions of Arabic speakers across the Middle East and beyond.
Born and raised in Haifa, Adraee studied Arabic and served in Israel's elite Unit 8200 before, at just 23 years old, being appointed as the IDF spokesperson in Arabic - a role that would define his career. Through a groundbreaking communications strategy often described as ‘speaking directly to the enemy,’ he pioneered new ways of engaging audiences across television, traditional media, and social platforms, shaping conversations throughout the region.
Adraee has represented the IDF in thousands of interviews with leading Arab media outlets and has amassed millions of followers online, becoming a trusted source of information for journalists and citizens across the Arab world. His influence is such that, in some circles, he has been nicknamed ‘Hezbollah's Supreme Leader’ - a testament to his visibility and impact.
